Do you love to work out? Love the physical exercise and don’t feel good without it? Tybee Island has many venues from which to choose to stay in shape while on vacation.

#1 - The Beach - We have 5 miles of beaches on which you can walk or run. Beach exercise is great for the legs and toes as walking in sand uses different muscles. Get those toes in shape!!

#2 - YMCA - Tybee has a wonderful YMCA with a fitness and gym center. There’s a cardio room with treadmills, ellipticals, stairmasters, recumbent and spin machines. While Tybee doesn’t allow dogs on the beach, they do take care of their paw-footed friends. TVR is announcing two new Tybee Bark Parks at the north end of the island, near the River’s End Campground and RV Park at the corner of Fort Street and Van Horne. The Small Bark Park is for dogs less than 20 pounds, while the large Bark Park is for larger dogs or small dogs who think they are large dogs.

At a later date, there will be a dedication, and organizers will be working together to add furnishings, a gazebo, artwork, and doggie fountains. Signs will be placed directing guests to the parks. For information call 912-786-5852.

Spending a day at the beach should be pleasant without having to search for a restroom. Portable restrooms can be found at many of the dune crossovers along the island beaches, and accessible restrooms are also provided at the north and south beach parking lots. There is a portable, ADA-compliant, air-conditioned restroom in the 18th Street parking lot at the south beach, and concrete restrooms on the north beach between the museum and the North Beach Grill.

There isn’t a nicer place to get married than on the beach, except for maybe in a big mansion or perhaps outside in front of the fountain at Forsyth Park in Savannah. Our area can offer you a wide variety of places to tie the knot.

Tybee is a public beach, so if you are a small wedding party you can just go and get married (once you have the license, of course). If you have a larger wedding or will be reserving a section of the beach, you will need to get a permit from the City of Tybee Island for your wedding. If you are from out of the area, you may want to hire a wedding planner and leave the details to them.
