The hurricane season is June 1st to November 1st. Unless you have a boat, there is only one way in and out of Tybee and that is Hwy 80–the Tybee Road. If a storm is coming, make sure you pay attention to the weather reports, either by weather radio, TV or regular radio.
IF THERE IS A MANDATORY EVACUATION, LEAVE!!!
With only one way off the island, it is imperative that you leave immediately. Traffic will be heavy, and even worse once you get into the Savannah environs. You’ll need all the time you can get to get to safety.
Sirens will sound when ANY type of bad weather is expected. We can have tornados here and damaging storms, so pay close attention. If you hear the sirens, take cover immediately.
Tybee Vacation Rentals will do our best to notify you if there is an evacuation, but do not hesitate to leave.
