On October 3rd at 3:00 Marlin Monroe’s will host a Miley/Billy Ray Cyrus look alike contest. The event is in conjunction with the Casting for Stars lineup of events to benefit the Tybee Post Theater (www.tybeestars.com).
Get our your party outfits and join in on the fun. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes, they’ll be a celebrity MC and special drinks will be available.
Help us restore our great theater and come to Marlins on the 10/3.

The blast of the Ram’s horn at 11 am Sunday, October 31, 2010 will again mark the start of The “Shalom Y’all Jewish Food Festival” in picturesque Forsyth Park.
This ethnic much anticipated sampling of delectable treats is the largest food festival of its kind. Festival delights include corned beef and pastrami, New York Egg Creams, family favorites like foot long hot dogs with sour pickles, traditional fare like mouth-watering brisket, savory chopped liver, stuffed cabbage and Jewish staples like blintzes (cheese filled crepes), kugel (noodle pudding) and of course potato latkes (pancakes). Less traditionally, is Rabbi Belzer’s Ah-Mein Lo-Mein, which has always been a crowd favorite.

Tybee Island has a wonderful YMCA with modern, up-to-date weight equipment, cardio machines, and a brand new refurbished building that provides better airflow and insulation. They also have classes for all ages, YOGA, roller skating and so on. Located at 2-4 5th St. the Y presents a wide range of activities.
One Friday every month, the Y offers family friendly roller skating. For $3 you can skate, get the equipment and have fun.
Teens have programs at the Y; A Tybee Youth Group program sponsored by United Methodist Church that provides a fun and safe environment with wacky games, songs, music, food and a great spiritual message is part of the Y programs. For more information on these Youth programs, call 912.786.9622.
The YMCA has an after school program with activities for kids ages 4-10. Located in the Old School building, the program helps kids with homework, gives them a healthy snack, and sponsors arts & crafts projects, playground activities, and sports. The program is held M-F from 2:45 – 6:00 pm and fees start at $29 per week.
In October the Tybee Y holds its annual Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival–free family fun–open to all.

Do you love a parade? Join the Beach Chair Brigade and walk in the Tybee parades that happen several times a year. It’s open to ages 18-80, no dancing ability is required, but you must be able to walk a normal parade route. For more info, contact Joey Burel at 912.786.5267.
There are pick-up basketball games every Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 at the gym. AND pick-up volleyball games every Tuesday at 7:00 pm and Thursday at 6:00 pm.

Tybee Vacation Rentals is proud to be a member of the new Tybee Island Business Alliance. The Alliance will help all businesses on Tybee work together with the Better Hometown Coordinator and city officials to accomplish changes for the betterment of the island. Some 50 odd businesses are already members, and it is envisioned that all businesses will eventually be represented.
Synergy is the word to describe what this organization will do. With all businesses working together, their impact for visitors AND residents will be more than the whole. The first three “big items” the Alliance will tackle will be restrooms (their cleanliness, availability and ease of use), parking (finding adequate spaces, charging fair fees and working toward a long-term goal of a garage) and trash (having enough trash cans, having trash picked up for a cleaner island and disposing of trash properly).
Tybee Vacation Rentals continues to work towards providing top-notch service to our customers, and working with all entities on the Island to make your Tybee experience the best it can be.

Why pay the parking fee ($1.50 per hour), try to find a place to park (impossible) or drink water for an evening because you are the designated driver when out on Tybee? We have two transportation businesses to get you around.

Pirate Pedicab – let these guys bicycle you around with your drinks-put your booty in their cab!
Either business can be there in minutes, ready to take you and your friends anywhere. They can drop you off at the door–keep you from walking in the heat–let you imbibe and have a good time–and generally be your transportation around the island.
Want to go to events, but don’t want to mess with the traffic, which can be horrendous? Take Crab Cab or Pirate Pedicab there and back. Wallah–no problems.
