Tybee Vacation Rentals is glad to announce a partnership with Island Miniature Golf and Games. Located at 7840 US Hwy 80 E. at Johnny Mercer Drive, Island Golf is a wonderful, clean, family fun place. They are 10 min. from Tybee and offer an array of things to do.

There is an 18 hole miniature golf course that was professionally designed and naturally landscaped that features ponds, streams and rock hazards just like the real thing. For $5.75 for adults, $4.75 for ages 4-10 and children under 3 free, you can play 18 holes and have a ball.

Like bumper cars? For $3.75 you can ride the cars; or how about the batting cage? Practice your swing–pretend you’re a baseball star and hit 14 pitches for just $1.25. Little ones will love the Moon Bounce. $1.50 buys you 20 minutes.

They have drinks, candy and an arcade where you can play pinball and other games ranging from 25 cents a game to 75 cents a game.

“This place was so clean, and there was something for everyone,” one guest said. “We let our 9 year old hit balls, our 3 year old bounce, and our twins played golf with their dad. It was great.”

On Saturday, June 12, 2010 the 12th Annual Tybee Island Sea Kayak Races will take place on Tybee Island. The event will benefit the Tybee Island Marine Science Center.

Tybee Island is the northernmost Georgia barrier island, 16 miles east of Savannah. Little Tybee Island is south of Tybee, separated by Tybee River. The races will take place around these areas.

There will be 3 races with staggered start times. The Tybee River Race starts at 8:30 a.m., follows a 6 1/2 mile course on the tidal river separating Tybee and Little Tybee Islands and is for those interested in testing their speed and endurance.

There’s nothing greater than sand volleyball, and on May 22nd, it will come to Tybee Island. This is a major event and will coincide with the Beach Bum Parade which takes place the day before.

The two-person team format will feature a purse of $5,000 and play will begin at 7 a.m. near the Pier and Pavillion. Pros and amateurs will play side by side with the pro division hosting 24 teams for the women and 24 for the men. There could be as many as 80-150 teams on the amateur side.

The entry fee is $100 per professional team, $50 per amateur team. Amateurs will begin play at 9:00 a.m. At noon, the playoffs will start with the championship finals getting underway around 4:00 p.m. for women, and 6:00 p.m. for men.

Winning teams can end up playing 8 full matches–all day; hence the name “Extreme Volleyball.”

Tybee was considered for the 1996 Olympic volleyball matches, but lost out to Atlanta’s private recreation facility. This time Tybee will host some of the country’s best. Contact the Greater Savannah Sports Council for details.
