BLUE – The Global Oceans Film Festival Event brought the world’s greatest collection of ocean films and filmmakers to Savannah, June 10-14, 2009. The festival featured screenings of over 45 of the world’s best ocean films from BLUE’s industry competition, along with panels of filmmakers to share their experiences making these amazing documentaries. Officially summer doesn’t begin until June, but anyone living on Tybee knows it starts with the Beach Bum Parade. It’s also starting to get hot, hot, hot. That’s summer. It’s time to be reminded of the safety issues regarding the beach.

Tybee Beach Rules – Don’t get kicked off the beach (or Tybee) because you did something illegal. Go to BEACH RULES to know what the do’s and don’t’s are for being on the beach.

MIND YOUR MANNERS. – Do what the lifeguards say. Your life or someone elses might depend on it. Don’t play your music so loud that it disturbs others. Don’t be lewd with your behavior. Our beaches are FAMILY beaches and you need to be mindful of the kids. Continue Reading »

Yoga on the beach with Ann Carroll will start its 2010 summer season soon. The class is free until May 1st as part of the “Tybee’s Big Give.”  It will continue on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the summer.  After May 1st the donation is $10 per class. The time is 7:00 am until 8:00 am.
 
To get to the class, follow the signs towards the lighthouse and enter the parking lot on the other side of the road (and behind the Tybee Museum)  Come to the beach using the Gulick Street walkover (the one straight ahead as you drive into the lot.)  Bring a mat or beach towel and call or e-mail if you have any questions!

The wild and wacky event, the Beach Bum Parade was a blast!! Watch for next year’s date.

This one-of-a-kind event featured a parade of floats, outfitted with the most outlandish and wild contraptions to get those on the sidelines wet! In turn, many on the sidelines prepared to fight back with their own wild and wacky, water-squirting tactics. It was just a hoot to see the antics, and those who watched this parade on the street got soaked whether they wanted to or not!
