St. Patrick’s Day

Published by Tybee Concierge under Activities, Attractions, Kids and Families, Uncategorized

It’s coming! St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah and Tybee is considered the 2nd largest in the U.S. by many experts, and it is only a few months away. Why not make a reservation at the beach (away from the crazies), ride our shuttles to and from the festivities in Savannah including the parade, be here for the Tybee parade, and enjoy related fun events? For example, the Crab Shack hosts the colorful and talented group, Junkanoo Tribe. These island musicians dance and sing in their colorful costumes and finery, and they appear in both parades, and then nightly at the Crab Shack on Tybee. What a fun event!!!!

March is beautiful–weather is just right-not too hot, not too cold, the azaleas are in bloom, and the beach is breathtaking. What a wonderful way to welcome spring. Date for the celebration is Savannah is March 17th, of course. Tybee begins her celebration the weekend before.

Visit our website at www.tybeevacationrentals.com or give us a call at 912-786-5853 to get your plans underway. Luck ‘O the Irish to ya!!!!

2009-Book Now for Special Events!

Published by Tybee Concierge under Activities, Destination Information

Vacation over and you’re sad? You need to plan next year’s vacation on Tybee!!! There’s nothing better to cheer you up than to have something to look forward to. Here is a list of events coming up in 2009.

January 1 - Polar Bear Plunge - shiver me timbers! Take a new year’s plunge into the waters of the Atlantic. While the water may be cold, chances are the weather will be mild.

January 16-19 - OK Girls! Get your posse together and come for the long weekend of fun at the Savannah Breeze Weekend. You deserve it after the hectic work of the holidays. What better way to escape the winter blues. Go to: www.savannahbreezeweekend.com for information.

February 14th - Valentine’s Day. Come to the beach for a romantic getaway. Many island restaurants offer specials for this holiday, and what a way to reconnect with your special someone. Tybee also offers “Tie the Knot on Tybee” - renew your vows or get married on the beach!

March - St. Patrick’s Day - You get two for one for this holiday. Attend the St. Patrick’s parade on Tybee (date to be announced) and go to the big daddy (some say 2nd largest celebration in the nation) on March 17th in Savannah. And the beach is beautiful in March as are the azaleas in Savannah.
Junkanoo Tribe at the Crab Shack - this colorful and talented group perform at the Crab Shack nightly during the St. Patrick’s weekend, AND they appear in the Tybee St. Pat’s Day Parade.

April 12th - Easter - Hide Easter eggs in the sand; attend a non-denominational service on the pier at sunrise; celebrate Easter with us!

May 10th - Mother’s Day - Bring Mom to the beach! Better yet, have a family reunion and let mom be with the whole family. We have special venues for family reunions and can arrange cakes, food, drinks, and all so all you have to do is enjoy!

May 15th - Beach Bum Parade - a Tybee tradition and a hoot of fun. Let the squirting begin!

May 29-31 - Memorial Day Weekend - start the summer with a bang!!!! Come to Tybee and relish in the start of long, sultry, slow days of summer.

June 21st- Father’s Day - Bring Dad to Tybee and fish, see the sights, eat, and do “dad” things–whatever he loves. Great time for a family reunion and we can accommodate a lot of people.

July 3rd- Come to Tybee to celebrate our country’s birthday–see the fireworks over the beach; bring a picnic dinner; play with your kids; enjoy the beach.

August - Beach Bash - say goodbye to summer and enjoy live music, food, the beach, and fireworks from the pier. Usually last weekend before Labor Day.

October - Tybee Island Pirate Fest - aaaarrrrrrggggg, me matey. Always a great time–come see the pirates and/or be a pirate yourself. Enjoy the parade, the “kidnapping” of the mayor, the costume contest for kids and adults, children’s activities, thieves market and the scavenger hunt. This is a terrific family event. Mid-October date to be announced.

October 31st - Halloween - Come celebrate Halloween the Tybee way! Dress up and visit Lewis Avenue for heaps of fun and candy–A SAFE and great family Halloween time.

November 11th - Veteran’s Day - Bring a veteran to the beach–what a great way to say “thank you” and have some fun.

November 26th - Thanksgiving - what a great way to be thankful–spending Thanksgiving on the Tybee beach! Bring the family and turkey–we’ll supply the pan.

December - Tybee Christmas Parade - Tybee is lovely in December–it’s not too cool nor too hot–just right for a vacation. Come for our Christmas parade. Date to be announced.

December 25th - Christmas - Want a great present for your family? Spend Christmas at the beach! And why not bring in a new year, too. New Year’s on Tybee would be unforgetable.

December 31st - New Year’s and Fireworks on the Pier - say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new one on Tybee–paradise!

Anniversary - Bring your special someone to Tybee for your anniversary. There’s no better romantic way to say “I’m glad you’re mine” than to spend a little time at the beach. We have romantic cottages in the palms, condos on the ocean, houses on the marsh–no matter what your interest we can get you the perfect place.

Birthday - spend a birthday at the beach. What a gift. We have gorgeous cakes, and by the way, we have a gorgeous ocean!

Family Reunion - want to get the family together? Want to have grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandkids for a special get-together? Grandparents–why not bring your family to Tybee for a reunion. We have places to accommodate lots of people and/or condos or houses next to each other to be “together” with still a little privacy. We have hiking/biking/boating/fishing/historic venues/jet skis/restaurants/ghost tours/things for kids–and a terrific ocean; and Savannah is only 17 minutes away!!
