Public Parks on Tybee
Tybee has 2 public parks, plus a small viewing park. Ft. Pulaski has a picnic area and park that can be used with an entrance to the park ($3).
The main park is Memorial Park located behind City Hall. It encompasses the block that is bordered by Butler on the east side, Jones on the West side, 4th on the north side, and 5th on the south side. It has an excellent playground with play equipment for children, a large field for playing, covered picnic shelters, restrooms, tennis courts and parking. The smaller picnic tables by Jones St. are first-come, first served. But if you’d like to use the covered pavillion, there is a $50 reserve fee that is refunded if all is left clean and neat, and then a $15/hr. use fee or $75 per day. To reserve this pavillion, calle Karen Reese at City Hall – 912.786.4573. The park is open and available from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Jaycee Park is the other large park on Tybee, located on the east side of Van Horne. It also has a very nice playground and play equipment for children, a ballfield, restrooms and several picnic tables. The picnic tables are first come, first served and there is no registration fee for them. If you wish to use the ball field, there is a registration fee for that. The hours are 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Call 912.786.4573.
Ft. Pulaski has an entrance fee of $3 per person. They have a large picnic area that seats about 100, is first come, first served, and they have 5,600 acres of park. The fee includes entrance to the fort. Hours: 9:00-5:00 daily. Admission: $3 per person and ticket is good for 6 days; 15 and under free. 912.786.5787 www.nps.gov/fopu
Tybee has a small viewing park at the bend on Butler. There is a bench and the view is beautiful but there are no picnic tables or facilities.
