Tybee Vacation Information Center

Tybee Island Marine Science Center (MSC) is a wonderful discovery where science meets the sea! Located at 1510 Strand at the foot of the Tybee Pier, the MSC offers an array of activities including beach discovery walks, field trips for all ages, Scout patch programs, squid dissection labs, “Gyotaku” fish printing, hands-on center tour, summer sea camp, Tybee turtle talks, and Tuesday lectures. They have packages for birthday parties, holiday classes, and family programs. This non-profit organization’s mission is to promote the appreciation, conservation and understanding of the marine ecosystem of coastal Georgia through education and services. This outstanding national fort and monument is another must-see for Tybee visitors. The restored fort tells the story of events that took place on April 11-12, 1862 that forever changed defensive strategies worldwide. Located on Cockspur Island, the fort is well-preserved and a fine example of 19th century military architecture. Its 5,600 acres offer an introductory video, exhibits, interpretive programs, a gift shop and bookstore, nature trails, a picnic area and cannon and gun firings. Location: Highway 80 just west of Tybee and 15 miles east of Savannah. Hours: 9:00-5:00 daily.
